Copenhagen Jazzfestival 2019
According to tradition, Nikolaj Hess will be playing more than 30 concerts at the Copenhagen Jazzfestival, among them every night with the Spacelab Trio with Mikkel Hess and AC at Apollo Bar, where he will also be part of the Hessismore Apollonian Circles on selected nights.
NH will July 10-14 be playing a series of concerts with his USA Trio with Tony Scherr, bass and Ben Perowsky, drums, both trendsetting unique virtuosos from the NYC downtown jazz scene. His many years collaborator stellar saxophonist Marc Mommaas will join as well, both in the quartet and duo format. NH’s USA album “Trio” with Scherr was chosen by Politiken as jazz album of the year in 2013, and received exceptional international reviews, and Hess/Mommaas duo album Standards, Ballads from 2016, likewise received impressive praise in the american jazz media.
Furthermore, NH will be playing solo piano and duo with the Norwegian singer Sissel Vera Pettersen and multiinstrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren, and with a various other recurring connections.
