Copenhagen Jazzfestival 2014 – “Impressions of Bob Dylan”

July 9th 2014

Impressions of Bob Dylan D. 4/7 - 14

Nikolaj Hess Solo the 4th of July 2014 at Nationalmuseet – “Impressions of Bob Dylan”

The Danish Newspaper “Børsen” writes (DK):
Make You Feel My Love”…..

Hess/ AC/ Hess Spacelab – New album & release concert

release concert at Copenhagen Jazzhouse March 21st trio at 9pm, continuing at “Natjazz” with guests Ane Trolle, Rune Olesen & Gustaf Ljunggren at 11pm

On March 13th, 2014 Hess/ AC/ Hess Spacelab will release their second album “Spacelab”. This album is the long-awaited sequel to the trio’s debut “Nikolaj Hess Spacelab – The Champ” (2009).
Spacelab combines new songs with signature repertoire; the nine original tracks include four film compositions interwoven with five lyrical pieces, generating a beautiful and soulful cinematic vibe.
This purely acoustic and poetic voyage is a deep and trembling response to the trio’s wild and unrestrained debut, which channelled years of intense night jam sessions during Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
This is contemporary jazz at its finest, where moving compositions and catchy currents sail the listener through a virtuoso and magical universe.

Reviews of “Trio” w Kenny Wollesen & Tony Scherr

July 5th 2013

Press Quotes from “Trio”
“a subdued and elegant new set featuring interpretations of Bob Dylan songs, as well as his own engaging originals.” (Time Out New York)

” a mesmerizing level of intensity at low volume and slow pace”.  (jazzword blogspot)

“Denmark’s Nikolaj Hess has combined with Scherr and Woolesen to produce an album that emphasizes the lyrical and poetic, mood-filled and simple, raw, unpolished and yet virtuosity and refined.”  “a delightful, reflective, almost pastoral use of light and shade. If Chopin had been born in New York and received tuition from say Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett he may have sounded like this ” (bebop spoken here UK)

“. Determined, a calculated and perfect for rolling forward, the beautiful rhythmic, melodic rich storytelling and ensemble are in a good balance. Hess’s own compositions alongside, he was taken by the two Bob Dylan composed songs” (jazzrytmit.com Finland)
